Almbachklamm
- Location:
- Take the highway exit Salzburg-Süd and follow the signs to Berchtesgaden/Germany.
You will soon pass the border and reach the small village Marktschellenberg.
Stay on the mainroad for another 3.5 kilometers until you reach a crossing
over the Königsseeache (the river). This small road brings you
directly to your destination.
- Suitability:
- Canyoning or Hiking
- River Description:
-
- General:
- The difficulties of the Almbachklamm depend very much on the
amount of water. It is better to hike uprivers on the trail, so
you get an idea of the canyon and you see the parts, where you have
to go back on the trail. But if you have the suitable equipment,
then you can do the hole canyon. If you have any problems or if
you don't want to do the high jumps then you can always climb back
to the trail. The first two waterfalls are no problem (except the
height - both of them are 8-10 meters), but watch for currents if
you have high water. The pool of the third jump (8-11 meters) is
a little bit shallow. If you want to jump, then loose your knees
and wear good sandals (oh, and mind your back ...). If you have
high water, there are some short swimming passages.
