During the last weekend Salzburg was hit by heavy rainfalls that brought the rivers to really high levels… and suddenly waves appear where there is normally nothing … Curious? Read on to see the wave …
Last weekend we drove up north on Vancouver Island to the first Annual Puntledge River Paddle Festival organized by our great folks at the Vancouver Island Whitewater Paddling Society.
Pfingsten arrived and Babsi and I had to go on another trip. Due to some articles & guidebooks we decided to explore the rivers of Slovenia and Croatia – except the well known Soca. We started in the region of Bled, continued on to the slovenian Krka and there we had an accident that changed the hole trip: someone broke into our car.
Due to that we drove all the way to the croatian island Cres (fighting hail & snow with the heather and an always open – non-existing – window). There we found some nice mountainbiking, a very refreshing sea and a campsite that was the perfect muni-trailparcour.
Enough of the introduction – photos are just one click away or if you want to know some details ….

Finally .. I took the time to upload some of the photos from the recent up island trips. Enjoy
After our adventures in Campbell River we went westwards via Strathcona Park to Gold River. We truly entered a different part of the island. The mountains and lakes become truly spectacular. And I took the chance to paddle a the middle section of the Gold River…
Last week we went for another trip up north on the island. Last
time we did that we discovered so many great thing to explore that we only made
it to Campbell River. Later we were told that the true northern part of
Vancouver Island only starts in Campbell River.
It is hot and dry on the island now. The snow has melted, the rain has gone
and
the rivers are dry. The Cowichan is as low as you can imagine it. On the
Koksilah you can probably walk down the river bed with mostly dry feet. Kayaking season is in atumn and winter here. And yet I have been paddling new
locations recently and had a blast. Guess how?
After all the rainy sessions Anschi, Riki and I headed to the Tessin and the Piemonte. A week of blue sky, relaxing in our hammocks and drinking red wine was…
